
2017 HOPEWELL VALLEY BULLDOGS COACHES
Dave Caldwell is a 1994 graduate of Marist College where he earned a degree in Psychology/Special Education while playing linebacker for the 1AA Red Foxes. In 2001, Coach Caldwell served as head freshman coach for the Montgomery High School Cougars. In 2002, Coach Caldwell came to Hopewell Valley as its first football coach since the reinstatement of football and has been at the helm since 2002 serving as the head coach. In 2008, he coached the Bulldogs to a divisional title and a 6-4 record. In 2013, the Bulldogs went a program best 10 – 1 and won the Central Jersey Group 3 Sectional Championship. In both 2008 and 2013 he earned the Delaware Valley Hank Johns Coach of the Year Award. Coach Caldwell is as an executive board member of the NJ North South All Star Classic and serves as the south squad team manager. Coach Caldwell currently resides in Hopewell, NJ with his wife, Lourdes and their four children Chris 16, Mike 14, Luke 8 and Danielle 5.

DAVE MACHIN
Freshman Head Coach
Dave Machin graduated from Nottingham High School in 2001 where he played linebacker and fullback while serving as captain. Upon graduation, Coach Machin attended Marywood University and graduated in 2006 with a BS in Health and PE.
In 2005, Coach Machin was the varsity linebackers coach and is currently a PE and Health teacher at Hopewell Valley Central High School.
Coach Machin currently resides in Columbus, NJ with his wife Nicole.

CLARENCE BAILEY
Offensive Coordinator / Offensive & Defensive Line
Coach Clarence Bailey is a 2003 graduate of Ewing High School. After earning All-American status as an offensive lineman at Lackawanna Junior College, Coach Bailey received a scholarship to play football at Albany State College in Georgia.
Coach Bailey has served as an offensive and defensive lineman coach Ewing High School from 2007 to 2010.
Coach Bailey lives in Ewing, NJ with his wife and three children Ayana 8, Cameron 5, and Christopher 2.

MARK STOUT Freshman Assistant
Coach
Coach Mark Stout rejoins the freshman team this year as the defensive coordinator. He is a graduate of Sacramento State University where he played offensive tackle for the 1-A Hornets.
Coach Stout previously played for the Baltimore Mariners and Reading Express.
Coach Stout currently resides in South Jersey.

CHRIS SLOLKA
Tight Ends / Linebackers
Chris Skolka graduated from West Windsor-Plainsboro South in 2012 where he played linebacker and tight end. Coach Skolka continued his education at Monmouth University where he graduated in 2016 with a BS in Health and Physical Education.
Coach Skolka is a Health and PE teacher at Central High School and also serves as the freshman baseball coach. He resides in West Windsor.

JOEL ROSARIO
Running Back / Defensive Backs
Coach Rosario has been coaching football for the past 5 years. He is a graduate of Rowan University where he played Outside Linebacker/Strong Safety.
Coach Rosario currently teaches at Trenton Central High School as a Health and Physical Education teacher.
This is Coach Rosario’s first year at Hopewell High School and is one of the Defensive back and Running back coach.

CHRIS GIRARDI
Defensive Backs / Wide Receivers
Coach Girardi graduated from Hillsborough High School in 2012 where he played wide receiver on the Hillsborough Raiders Varsity Football team. He was All Conference / All County for his senior year and was the recipient of the Ricky Prohl Award for Receiving.
After high school, Chris attended Rutgers University graduating in 2016 with a BS in Criminal Justice. He spent a couple of years as a volunteer coach for the Hillsborough Raiders Varsity Football team and he landed his first full time coaching job in 2016 for the David Brearley Bears Varsity Football team in Kenilworth, NJ.
Coach Girardi is currently an Instructional Aide in the Special Education Department at Hillsborough High School.

DAN JOHNSON

Coach
Dan Johnson graduated from Ewing High School in 2001 where he lettered in track and football. Upon graduating from Ewing High School, Coach Johnson served in the United States Army where he was a recipient of a purple heart during the Iraqi Freedom War.
Coach Johnson has coached football for four year and track for the past 8 years, and most recently served as Head Track Coach for Hopewell.
Coach Johnson currently resides in Ewing, NJ with his wife Ebony and their two daughters Amani 6, and Angel 4.

JORGE MERINO

Coach
Jorge Merino graduated from Old Bridge High School where he was an All-Conference defensive end and Track and Field athlete.
He competed collegiately at Rider University in the shot put where he graduated with his BS in Education and Special Ed Certification. He is a Special Education teacher at Hopewell Valley Central High School.
He resides in Lawrenceville, NJ with his fiancé, Marissa.

MARK ROSENFELD

Coach
Mark Rosenfeld is a 1990 graduate of Queens College with a degree in secondary education.
Coach Rosenfeld has coached Pop Warner Football for 12 years in New York City and New Jersey. His teams finished two Bantam Division Championships in 1998 and 1999. Coach Rosenfeld is entering his 12th season as an assistant coach with the Bulldogs.
Coach Rosenfeld currently resides in Robbinsville, NJ with his wife Meredith and son, Max 19 who is a sophomore at St. Joseph's University.
